Okay, we all have figured out now that I am not real good at keeping this up on a regular basis! I will try to do better but, no promises:-).
I have been doing quite a bit of reading and have several books to recommend. Some of the books are from the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl list and are really good. I am trying to read the same books that my team reads so I can keep encouraging them. Leepike Ridge (an HRRB pick) is an exciting mystery that moves at a pretty good pace. Hiroshima Dreams (HHRB also) is good but not your typical middle grade book. It's one that makes you think and feel. In some ways, it reminded me of how A Single Shard made me feel when I read it. I loved both books and would recommend them.
Right now I am reading the Ted Dekker series for middle grades, The Lost Books, and am loving it! It has excitement, adventure, mystery, danger, love, everything! Once I started the first one, I couldn't put it down. I just finished the 3rd one and am having to wait until the 4th one comes (on order). Reading this series also interested me in Dekker's adult series, The Circle Trilogy, which is connected to the Lost Books series by the main character. I'm almost finished with the first one, Black, and am enjoying it also.
There are so many good books out there to read but just not enough time (work gets in the way)! I was just talking with another teacher yesterday about favorite books we read growing up. Georgette Heyer, Emilie Loring, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Mary Higgins Clark, Jane Aiken Hodge, and Victoria Holt are just a few we talked about. Wow, what a wide variety of styles just in those few names. I'd love to hear some of your favorite authors.
Okay, enough for today. Later!!
